Fun & Learning Nights

Typically on the third Wednesday of each month, several classes for varied ages are offered to the entire community. These programs are designed to educate, entertain and enlighten the friends and members of this church, as well as the Tryon Community.

The evenings begin at 5:30pm with a light supper offered by the youth group and families for a donation to the Youth Activity and Mission Fund. Participants then choose one of several classes which begin at 6:00pm. Classes cover concepts such as life skills, religion, travel, service, arts, music and crafts. Instructors are varied and come from our church community as well as the Tryon region. Some arts and crafts classes may require a materials fee.

There is something for everyone at Fun & Learning Night. Don’t miss this inexpensive night of fun, food and enlightenment. For more information about classes or if you have an idea or would like to teach a class please contact Lance Smith.

February Fun & Learning

A video presentation of theologian and Old Testament scholar Walter Bruggemann’s address to the 50th synod of the UCC (United Church of Christ), an acoustic jam session, a craft,  and of course fun are all on the list of classes. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with an optional light supper for a donation to the 2008 Polk County CROP Walk. Then at 6 p.m. you may choose from three wonderful fun and fellowship opportunities.

Dr. Robert Barrows leads a group discussion of his favorite theologian following the video presentation.

Lance Smith and friends will lead an acoustic jam session; all acoustic instruments are welcome for this trip through Folk, Rock, Country, and Americana genres of popular music. Bring your instrument or come sing along with the fun.

Wendi Jordan, Polk county teacher, after school director, and parent, has planned an evening of hands on fun for the young and the young at heart.
